has raised the performance bar again with the latest enclosure technology for
the PC/104 platform. The Field Pad has extended fanless, weather tight
performance to include user input devices and video display from -20°C
to +70°C operating temperature. Advanced heatpipe technology integrated
with heatsink fins move heat out of the system eliminating the use of fans that most portable computing systems
offer. This customer defined system allows for
PC/104 and PC/104-Plus expansion modules with RTD's standard line of Analog
I/O, Digital I/O and Peripheral Modules. Customers can define which PC/104 boards
are included in each system along with customer defined I/O connectors in Field
Pad.
The Field Pad is the latest in Industrial PC computing power and control capability in a sealed aluminum housing. The Field Pad system is a machined aluminum enclosure acting as a heatsink that envelopes your sensitive data acquisition system and delivers performance from 20 to +70°C without a fan. An EMF environmental gasket is integrated around the perimeter of each removable section offering exceptional RF isolation. A membrane breather valve equalizes the internal pressure to changes in atmospheric pressure. Military style circular connectors offer easy connection while maintaining the environmental seal integrity built into this enclosure. The small footprint, 178mm x 158mm x 185mm, allows this unit to fit anywhere. Maximum computing performance is achieved using a Pentiumä Class cpuModule™ running at 1000 MHz, up to 512 MB SDRAM, a socket for a 1GB DiskOnChip and up either an onboard Flash Disk or an optional internal hard drive module gives you Gigabytes of storage with connectors for external USB drives. Extensive data acquisition and control capability is achieved with a variety of analog inputs, analog outputs & digital I/O modules. Communication between the Field Pad systems and your main network is accomplished using a standard Serial, Ethernet, CAN Bus, WLAN, or GPRS Cellular connection.
Power requirements are less than 20-Watts and are handled using an internal 75-Watt Power Supply module with an 8-30VDC input. Battery Operation will allow for up to 1.5 hours of operation with the internal battery pack.
offers a variety of PC/104 and
PC/104-Plus (PCI bus) modules that can be added to most any PC/104EZ system or
RTD Embedded Technologies will configure a system specific to your needs. An optional
SVGA (1024 x 768) display is available, but limits operation from 0°
to 60°C.
These systems were designed not only for their functionality but also with the end user in mind. The modular stack-through design of the PC104 / PC104+ platform allows you to add additional modules or upgrade existing modules as technology or requirements change. A replaceable connector plate allows for future expansion of your I/O connectors. The goal set forth was to design a line of "High Reliability" industrial computer systems not available from most computer manufacturers. Field Pads will run the major operating systems including DOSä, Windowsä, Windows CEä, NTä and NT Embeddedä, QNX, Linuxä, RTCX, and Phar-Lap. RTD Embedded Technologies, Inc. manufactures both the boards and the systems giving the end-user a single point of contact for both system configuration and support after the sale.
