ADA1110 & ADA2110 12-bit, 40 kHz Analog I/O Boards
Features
From the single-ended inputs and resistor configurable gain on the ADA1110 to the user-selectable differential or single-ended inputs and programmable gain on the ADA2110, these 40 kHz multichannel PC/XT/AT boards provide excellent performance and easy operation in industrial and laboratory environments.
Analog Inputs. Depending on the board, one of 16 single-ended or eight differential analog inputs is multiplexed under software control to the sample-and-hold amplifier. The input voltage range for all channels is jumper selectable. For a gain of 1, the resolution is 2.44 millivolts for ranges of ±5 and 0 to +10 volts, and 4.88 millivolts for a range of ±10 volts. On the ADA1110, the gain for all channels is set to any desired value greater than 1 by simply adding feedback resistors to the input amplifier stage. The ADA2110 features binary-programmable gains of 1, 2, 4, and 8 (1, 10, and 100 optional). The unique on-board gain multiplier circuitry lets the user customize the input range. Since the gain and channel number are programmed at the same I/O port, independent channel gain can be achieved by writing a new gain value each time a new channel number is selected.
A/D Conversions. A high performance, industry-standard 12-bit A/D converter accurately digitizes dynamic input voltages captured by the sample-and-hold circuit. A Start Convert command initiates each conversion. Multiple conversions can be done by using an on-board timer/counter to generate interrupts which are used to trigger conversions at the desired sample rate. For higher throughput at a lower resolution, the converter also can be programmed to perform 8-bit conversions.
Analog Outputs. The ADA1110 and ADA2110 feature two independent 12-bit analog output channels with matched D/A converters and fast settling output buffers. The voltage range of each output channel can be independently set to ±5, ±10, 0 to +5, or 0 to +10 volts. Timer/Counters & Digital I/O. Three 8254 based 16-bit, 8 MHz timer/counters support a wide range of timing and counting functions. Sixteen 8255 based TTL/CMOS digital I/O lines are available at the I/O connector.
