Analog Inputs
The 520 provides eight inputs which can be individually
configured as differential or single-ended with dedicated grounds. Or,
you can choose 16 single-ended input channels without dedicated grounds.
The input voltage range for all boards is +/-5 volts.
Gain
Programmable gain on the 520 provides resolution to 1.3 microvolts
at a gain of 1000. The 520 is also available with a 1, 2, 4, and 8 gain
configuration on request. The gain for each channel can be independently
programmed by setting a new gain value each time a new channel number is
selected.
A/D Conversions
A 13-bit (12-bit plus sign) dual slope integrating A/D
converter performs highly accurate single or continuous conversions at a
rate of either 7.5 or 30 samples per second. The 7.5 Hz rate provides at
least 60 dB rejection of 60 Hz line noise, ensuring very reliable and
virtually noise-free data collection. When you specify operation in a 50 Hz
line noise environment, a crystal is installed for 6.25/25 Hz
switch-selectable conversion speeds.
Trigger Input/Output
Trigger I/O can be used to Synchronize
conversions on two or more boards cascaded in a "master/slave"
configuration. A trigger to the master board simultaneously starts a
conversion on all boards.
Analog Outputs
The ADA520 has two 12-bit analog output channels with
matched D/A converters and fast settling output buffers. Each channel
is independently jumper selectable for one of four ranges: 0 to +5,
0 to +10, +/-5, or +/-10 volts.
Vout and Iout References
A +5V voltage and 5 mA current output reference are provided for sensor excitation.
Digital I/O
The 520 has 32 digital I/O lines available at the I/O
connectors, 24 lines with high current capability and eight lines for
transmitting standard TTL signals.
Timer/Counters
An 8254 programmable interval timer on the
520 contains three independent 16-bit timer/counters for implementing a
wide range of timing and counting functions.
