The GPS140HR is a complete PC/104 GPS interface using the latest receiver technology. This module interfaces to the host through a 16C550 compatible UART providing a direct connection to most commercial software packages. This module with its wide operating temperature range and robust design is an ideal choice for demanding mobile and vehicle installations today. The GPS140HR supports the NMEA-0183 protocol standard.

Position information is achieved at the maximum accuracy available using the Standard Positioning Service (SPS). The 12 parallel channel satellite tracking will provide fast response and extensive coverage even in "urban canyon" or dense foliage environments. The onboard backup battery maintains the memory of the GPS receiver during "power off" to ensure fast satellite acquisition during startup. The GPS140HR supports both passive and active antennas.  In case of active antennas alternatively +5V or +12V can be used to power the antenna. The +12V must be supplied by the bus or from the utility connector. Differential GPS input may be directly connected to the 10-pin serial port header on the GPS140HR. The 1PPS time mark and a 10KHz clock are available from the utility header connector. Onboard jumpers can be used to configure the operation mode as well as the protocol used in the communication to the GPS receiver module. Starter kits are available for fast system testing and evaluation. These starter kits include an active antenna designed for vehicle applications.
