Applications:
Description:
The GPRS6055ER wireless GPRS GSM modem uses the latest GPRS GSM technology to provide a direct and reliable data connection to stationary or GSM 900/1800/1900 mobile fields around the world. Network connectivity is achieved using the Siemens MC55 GPRS engine. This unit works in the 900MHz, 1800MHz or 1800MHz band. RTD maintains in-house equipment for testing international cellular frequency standards. The GPRS6055ER board is capable of standard GSM data connectivity or alternatively connecting with a fast GPRS data connection. In the case of standard GSM, 9600 kbps data rates are achieved, whereas with GPRS network services may reach up to 50kbps data rates depending on the free network bandwidth.
The GPRS6055 board includes a complete 16C550 compatible serial port that can be configured with jumpers for any standard COM port address or any free address space. Both XT and AT interrupts are supported. The control registers of the board are overlaid in Base Address + 400h.
Any standard dual band GSM antenna may be connected directly to the GPRS6055ER via on-board MCX connectors. The antenna should be connected to the GPRS6055ER using a flexible 50 Ohm antenna cable.
A standard +3V SIM-card socket is located on the bottom of the GPRS6055ER-1 module. The GPRS6055ER-2 module provides an external SIM-card reader connected via a standard 10-pin 150mm long flat cable.
The temperature of the GPRS6055ER can be monitored using an on-board temperature sensor. This sensor will use status bits to indicate that the module is within a -20° to +70° C temperature range where the GSM engine is guaranteed to work reliably and will assist in the restricted operation range of -25° to +75° C. The two 8-bit digital I/O ports may be used for general purpose TTL-level control. The input port pins have a 10K pull-down on all the 8 lines.
Advanced GSM tool software is provided with the GPRS6055ER product. This software package contains:
